NO appetite, nausea, losing weight,

Posted by dorma @dorma, Nov 1, 2025

I've steadily gotten worse over the past year or more; down to 84 pounds, and have no appetite, even for favorite foods. Doctors just blow past my questions. Have completed some tests; waiting for more. Dr would not even go over my medications for possible reasons. I am very "fuzzy" headed, hard to focus on anything. Nausea used to be mornings, but it happens pretty much constantly, though not enough to vomit; but sometimes dry heaves. I desperately want answers, if possible.

@astaingegerdm I've been waiting for one for several weeks; she said not until January 26th!!! And yes; I need to find a new doctor.

I know how you feel. Misery. Day after day. Month after month. For years. I’m a touch better now but feel full fast. I also don’t want to eat certain foods.
I drank Ensure on and off.
Now I nibble. Cheese, crackers, grapes.
Endoscopy is important.

This is my first foray into this discussion as I’m coming off a severe bout of CMV colitis, initially unsuccessfully treating for two painfully debilitating weeks as C Diff. After several weeks of antivirals administered through a PICC line I finally started to feel close to 100%. But in recent days I’ve noticed my weight has continued to decline as has my appetite, with early satiety upon eating small meals. I can barely stand up straight due to abdominal discomfort and unlike my normal bowel habits of going after every meal, it’s become like once a day. I feel as if I’d feel a lot better if only I could go to the bathroom- so opposite of the frequency and urgency I’d been experiencing a few weeks ago. I’m concerned this has impacted my vagus nerve. I’m scheduled for a repeat sigmoidoscopy next week but that won’t reveal stomach pathology. I’ve contacted my GI through the portal and awaiting a response. Feeling miserable in the meantime.
