NO appetite, nausea, losing weight,
I've steadily gotten worse over the past year or more; down to 84 pounds, and have no appetite, even for favorite foods. Doctors just blow past my questions. Have completed some tests; waiting for more. Dr would not even go over my medications for possible reasons. I am very "fuzzy" headed, hard to focus on anything. Nausea used to be mornings, but it happens pretty much constantly, though not enough to vomit; but sometimes dry heaves. I desperately want answers, if possible.

I am sorry to hear you not getting closer to finding answer about your concerns. This has to be frustrating.
I have had problems with unintended weigh loss and it has been difficult at times to eat when I just haven’t felt like it. I have been fortunate to figure out eating regularly does help my fuzzy head and nausea feeling, so this has been motivating.
You mention tests. What has been ruled out, and what tests are you still waiting for? What questions have your doctors blown by that you would like answers to?

6 ReactionsHi Dorma,
I'm so sorry you are having such awful problems! Not being able to eat and only 84 pounds! And the doctors not seeming to care or do anything about your situation! If you feel good enough, look up all of your medications and their side effects to see if any of the side effects are affecting your nausea and appetite and weight loss. Do the search on the Mayo Clinic. That way, you'll know that the information you get is correct.
One thing that can cause you to lose weight is incontinence. I know because I am incontinent and went from a size 12 slacks down to a size 6!
I think at this point it would also be a good idea to just talk to God and give him all your problems and let him fix them. He made you and he can fix you! You don't have to go to church to find God, although churches are very nice. Just talk to God like he's your best friend and he is! I'll say a prayer for you also.
I wish you the best,
PML

2 Reactions@jlharsh I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis several years ago; IBS many years ago, had emergency intestinal surgery about 15 years ago {scar tissue wrapped around the intestine in two places] prescribed Amitiza, which was extremely wrong, and more things.
I did the at home test: 7 bottles and a tube...was told it is "normal". I'm waiting for what I THINK is upper GI at surgery center, but she called it something else, but cannot get in for 3 months!
My questions about nausea and fuzzy head are ignored, also EXTREME fatigue. I've been counseled to speak up for myself; stop being too nice. I am trying. I am learning to deal with a few other issues, but this nausea and no appetite is getting worse. I can't afford to keep losing weight.

1 Reaction@nycmusic I took a list of my medications to the doctor; she handed it right back to me; did not even look at them. I do research about my meds, but most of them say pretty much the same things.
@pml I talk to Heavenly Father several times every day. Attending church and scripture study is a must for me. Thank you for your encouragement.

1 ReactionHave you been to a Functional Medicine Dr yet? Usually insurance doesn't cover for it and it is out of pocket. I am seeing one right now and my Dr. did a ton of tests and they look at different things than regular/specialists check regularly for in labs/scans/X-rays/Ct's, MRI's. If you have a credit card or a family member that could help you out, I would highly recommend you see a Functional Medicine Dr. They will do allergy food testing on you, do a whole battery of labs on you and take much more time to spend with you going over what you eat, meds, medical history, etc..... Have you been tested for foods? If not, try keeping a food journal and seeing if food is the problem. I have nausea and I have lost weight too. Awhile back, I got told by a Psychiatrist via a swab test thru the mouth that I had a folic acid deficiency and that I needed to supplement my body. She told me to take L-Methyl Folate. I went off of my L-Methyl Folate and I noticed a huge difference, I lost 25 lbs, I started having nausea, problems with eating meat, especially fatty meats and fatigue and not hungry and feeling full after eating very little. I suspected I had problems with my liver, liver CT scan came back normal, however it did say that I have the possiblility of having fatty liver disease. Have you had any tests done on your liver? If your Dr. isn't helping, I would be switching Dr's or hospitals if you are able to do that. They have medical journals, where you can do tracking and writing down your symptoms, food journals and medical journals, you might check into something like that. I have one and I love it! I will keep you in my prayers and hope you feel better soon. Keep us updated on any updates with you!

1 Reaction@animallover25 Thank you so much!! This sounds worth checking in to!
Dorma, you are so welcome. Check reviews online for Functional Medicine Dr's. I looked into it a few years ago, in another city and one lady wanted $2,000 up front, even before I stepped into her office. I wasn't comfortable with that set up. I postponed doing functional medicine then. We've moved and I looked around again and this place didn't require a deposit, before seeing the Dr. Warning it can be pricey, however my Mom taught me, "you get what you pay for". Unfortunately, our Dr's in America are trained a certain way and that way is big pharma, drugs are the answer, figure out what is going on and prescribe a medication type method. Yes, that does work, however do they always get to the root problem of our medical issues? Heck, no. Is that needed, yes it is. Medical Doctors don't look at food much, why---- because there is no money in educating patients about eating healthy, no money in eating veggie or fruits, etc... They go where the money is. My Mom worked in the Dept of Psychiatry and she would tell me the Drug reps would come in with food and freebies-gifts, pens, post it notes,etc.... They would have lunch provided by the Drug companies, so they buy lunch for the Dr's/Nurses and Secretaries and other office staff. They market the Dr's heavily big time so those Dr's are bombarded by all the Drug companies. The goal is for those Dr's to recommend their drug to their patients more than another or prescribe that to more patients. There are different types of food testing- allergy Dr ones- which are very limited and I got different results with those and then there is Genova testing which the Functional Medicine Dr's use and I got different results from Genova. You really need both testing.
One functional med Dr. I checked into that had a spa type environment in another state wanted over $20,000 for me to be treated. I am immunocompromised, I have CVID- my antibodies are no good, so I get anywhere from 6-8 sinus infections a year. I have had up to 4 antibiotics to try and heal my body for one sinus infection. I do infusions once a week to put good/new antibodies in my body via Subcutaneous injections at home. I get plasma donations, so I am so thankful for people who donate blood/plasma, as that is where my medication comes from, other people's antibodies. Anyway, the Spa place a lot of different treatments for me and everything was very expensive. They wanted me to stay there 2 weeks, so travel expenses, hotel, food was all extra above and beyond the Dr's fees. I couldn't afford all that. Beware, there's expensive and then there is more affordable places. It will take research and time and effort, I hope it will be worth it for you. I am so sorry to hear of your weight loss, especially 84 lbs! That is very skinny. Make sure you eat, even when you aren't hungry. The medical journal I use is Clever Fox, I love mine- it has a symptom "tracker" where if I get new symptoms, I can write them down. Place to write all my medications/supplements down all in one journal. I highly recommend it. Any type of fatigue, I recommend go to either an Immunologist or a Rheumatologist- those could be symptoms of Immunodeficiency or Auto Immune conditions, possibly. Food could be having an effect on you too and might be causing you fatigue too. My Functional Medicine Dr. is telling me I am eating too many carbs and sugar, which I know I am a sugar-a-holic. I am working on cutting back on those things. Do you have a Gastrointestinal Dr. - It might be worth seeing one to get an Upper Endoscopy or Colonoscopy to make sure nothing else is going that you don't know about. I have acid reflux, gastroparesis, hiatal hernia and gastritis-chronic. Before I went gluten free, I was told I have Barrett's Esophagus. Saw an alternative Internal Medicine Dr. and he did extensive food testing on me and found I have problems with dairy and wheat-those were the highest on my list and then other foods I got reactions but were much milder than wheat and dairy. He told me to avoid cheese and go gluten free. I am doing more than what he said, I went gluten free and dairy free. I have had at least 4 Upper Endoscopies since that diagnosis and every time the Dr's say they no longer see the Barrett's Esophagus anymore. Just by changing my food, I eliminated Barrett's Esophagus! Barrett's Esophagus can be pre-cancerous- basically your stomach cells are going upward into your esophagus-going the wrong way! Why aren't Dr's educating us about food, they should be. I'll get off my soap box. If I can do that, why can't other people do that too? Wheat in America has round up in it, extremely bad chemicals in our wheat in America. In Europe, wheat doesn't have Round up in it and it has a different rating, it is low on the scale and in America wheat here is high on the scale. I have heard from others that are Celiac/Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitive people that they can eat the regular bread in Europe, you get less of a reaction. I hope you figure out what is going on with you!
