Night/Early-morning "anxiety" caused by need to urinate

I am a post-RP patient (April 2025). I've never had difficulty sleeping, and no issues sleeping through the night. However, in these post-op days, I noted that each morning when I am slowly aware that I am awakening, I note a tension...an anxiety...that is quite disturbing. It may start like a bad dream but move into a wakeful state. Then...I realize that I "could" or "need to" urinate after my night's sleep. I often can sleep through to 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., but I often awaken between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. with greater urgency. The anxiety is like I had too much caffeine (but I am now caffeine-free since it is a bladder irritant). Here's the thing...
After I urinate and crawl back into bed, within minutes I realize that my tension and anxiety are gone. The need to urinate so early happens every night, and...every night or early morning, I have that anxiety. But then it goes away after I urinate. Prior to my surgery I never had such an issue. I'd just get up in the morning - whenever that was - and just stand at the toilet and urinate like I did for 65 years before.
So, I wonder if any of you post-op guys have a similar feeling of tension or anxiety when awakening, with or without any particularly great urgency to urinate? Now that I know what it is, I just get up to urinate, because I want to end that anxiety and enjoy another hour or sleep. I appreciate your comments and experiences in advance.

@tj1967 yes...PC has turned my life upside down...and now the double whammy of fatigue from ADT (Orgovyx/Nubeqa) and radiation..anxiety and relentless hot flashes ( 3-7/day) and now some discomfort from just 1 week of radiation.

the emtional impact of cancer diagnosis is like being hit by a cement truck... dare you even buy green bananas ?

While it seems like a strange Combination getting exercise can defeat the fatigue. I run a mile on the track twice a day. I can run it because I drink electrolytes in the morning. Without them, I can only walk half The time. I also go to the gym three days a week, You really lose muscles quickly if you don’t exercise with weights. Stomach muscles will be the first to go.

Some people get no hot flashes at all. Others only have a few hot flashes and they are very minor. I had severe hot flashes for the first year on Lupron. As a hot flash was hitting I would feel a lot of fatigue. After a year, my oncologist prescribed a depo-provera shot every three months and it really stopped those hot flashes on Lupron. There are other hormones that can do this, speak to your doctor.

I have an embrlabs.com wave product (wave 2). I’ve used it for Over 4 years now. It’s like a refrigerator that looks like a watch and sits on the inside of your wrist. You could set up one of the buttons for their night mode . Hit the button twice and It Produces cold waves at measured times during the night and prevents hot flashes and night sweats. They used to bug me, before I got this device . When you start to feel a hot flash coming on, you hit another one of the buttons twice and it sends cold chills through your arms and it reduces the intensity, shortens the life and can stop the hot flashes if hit quickly enough.

well today actually proved the value of exercise and MAKING YOURSELF get up and move...I slept and just lounged most of the morning until 3..felt listless..and a bit hopeless...but I made myself take a shower and go eat some lunch...drank alot of water..then I did my 20 min stairclimb with 10 pound weights...( hope that doesnt disturb my rectal spacer!)
anyway, now feel energized and ready for more...I decided to buy a noseless bicycle seat so I can start riding again...( basically a seat without the long narrow strip that your testicles rest on..) I love to ride my mountain bike.

I appreciate all the views and encouragement I get here.. I am all alone so I have to be the one who gets me going...( "tom, get your ass in gear and quit being a pussy..with no testostrone !")
