Night sweats and kidney related?
Hi all,
First post. I am suffering from night sweats, profusely at times to the point that I’m using towels in the middle of the night.
This is worse each time I return from holidaying in hot countries but continues long afterwards too.
I do drink alcohol everyday while on holidays and this brings me to the kidney query.
I was born with only one kidney and starting to wonder if this is related and worsened by the excessive alcohol whilst on holidays?
I am 53, fit through gym activity 4 times per week and sleep around 7 - 8 hours each night (albeit interrupted by urinating and night sweats)
Any thoughts if the kidney could be a contribution?

@andyg67 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Having night sweats can certainly be uncomfortable!
My primary thoughts are proposed here. Please note I am not a medical professional, and will not/cannot diagnose your situation. These are the things I would ask myself in trying to figure things out.
-Am I on any medications that may have night sweats as a side-effect?
-When was my last dr appointment, and did I bring this up to them? What did my recent labwork show for results?
-Have I had any recent infection of any sort, and recovering from that?
-Drinking too much alcohol is never a great thing to impose on my body. Being aware of it, how can I cut back on the amount?
-Am I keeping the bed/room comfortable for me to sleep? A lot of people prefer a cold room.
In my own experience, I will often wake up after a few hours sleep, and be having night sweats.
