Hello there.
My first hip replacement I waited 7 weeks. I have been told I will wit at least 6 months for my 2nd one. I’m on the waiting list. It’s horrendous, and so much damaged being caused to their joints whilst waiting.
Are you on the waiting list?

I waited four months after my first consultation with the surgeon before I got a date. It depends on who your surgeon is. I waited happily for the best even though there were at least 3-4 others in the orthopedic department.

I needed a hip replacement in February 2020. Covid came along and all elective surgeries were canceled for a long time which was fine with me as I was terrified. Anyway I don’t think my joints were any worse off. I lost 10 pounds during that period of time and I did exercises for my hip every day for the 3 years prior ti surgery. You can be proactive.

Yes definitely you can be proactive, I do exercise to strengthen my hip, which will benefit me after surgery.
I too lost weight as that does help. Sorry, so have you had your hip done? Or still waiting?

I had my hip done at the end of January. It was a complex THR as my bones were soft. I had to use a walker for six weeks because I was on 50 percent non- weight bearing. Had the surgeon had to use cement I’d have been on 100 percent non- weight bearing. Don’t know how I’d have managed THAT! And here I thought I’d be going home and running up the stairs the same day as surgery. That’s what I had heard from two other people!

My first was June 14th.I waited 6 weeks to see the top rated surgeon and then once I decided to go with it, I wanted to get it over with and he happened to get to me within the next two weeks! People who do all the pre-surgery stuff were amazed I got a spot so quickly because he is so sought after. As they say,it mostly depends on the surgeons schedule. Good luck! It's a relief not having the hip pain anymore!!
