New Referral

Posted by kwhaley53944 @kwhaley53944, Apr 29 4:14pm

Hello,
My vascular surgeon from UW Madison just referred me to Mayo Clinics Vein Center, for assessment, evaluation and treatment to potentially include femoral vein valve replacement.
Does anyone know what is a reasonable amount of time to wait to hear back on the referral?
Also, is there a support group within that relates to this medical issue?
Thank you

Welcome, @kwhaley53944,
Mayo Clinic's appointment coordinators and schedulers use decision trees to determine where you will start with your Mayo experience. For example, if the Vascular Center, Vein Clinic is where you need to start, they will request your medical records and schedule the appointment with you.

By "femoral vein valve replacement" are you referring to TAVR?
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) using the femoral artery, a blood vessel in your groin or thigh, is a procedure to replace an aortic valve that is narrowed and doesn't open fully. A tube is guided with the replacement valve through the femoral artery to the heart.

For valve replacement and other vascular conditions, I recommend following the Heart & Blood Health Support Group here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/heart-blood-vessel-conditions/

Do you know when your physician submitted the referral?
