@rashida thank you for your kind words. My mind is 35 but body 100. Chronic pain, spinal issues. Scared and mad I waited too long to be fixed.

@indogirl No, please remind yourself you did not wait too long! You are reaching out now, so that is good. And you acknowledge you want assistance to feel you're not alone, and that you want to feel better. Please be gentle on yourself, okay?!

This time of year can be really tough for so many of us. There are a lot of triggers in the advertisements we see, or music we hear. Again, please be gentle on yourself.

@indogirl
I hear you. I guess many would consider me old at 75 but I never felt that way until recently. My 2nd back surgery was not quite 3 years ago and though it did get rid of the pain I just feel I never mentally bounced back from it.

To indogirl. That invisible feeling. . . I remember once being so terribly down, and walking through the grocery, I truly felt that I was inside a clear bubble. I could see everyone, but no one could see me. I haven’t ever felt so strongly invisible, anymore, but still remember that sensation. Our feelings are very real, to us. But, my therapist told me, many times, “Feelings are not facts”. Don’t give up on yourself !

@suzleigh thank you. I had been in the depression closet since my 30s. I admitted finally I needed help. My primary was treating my GAD, but didn't belive I was depressed. I was good at hiding it. She put me on Bupropion IR which had me speeding and then XR which wouldn't let me sleep. Same issue with Prozac. Now Lexapro is working, but when I went from 5mg to 10mg my irritability came back. Been a month. Not sure it will get better. I'm always aware of my thoughts and feelings 24 7.

@indogirl It's hard to find the right mix/dose of antidepressants and antianxiety meds and some doctors are just better at figuring it out than others. I've had the same psychiatrist for many years and any time I've switched, I wind up going right back to him. You are not alone in this and this time of year with its dark days can be difficult, I agree. I use a bright light every morning for half an hour or so and it helps my mood. Try to work with your psychiatrist but also don't be afraid to find someone else if you think it might help. Also having a good therapist helps you vent your feelings with good feedback. Hang in there. We are here for you!!

@indogirl my doctor has prescribed Zoloft. I started at 25mg. (1 capsule) for two weeks and now am on 50mg. (2 capsules). Perhaps you could ask your doctor if you can try that …? My doctor has assured me it is not addictive (which was my concern), and the wean off period is just two weeks if I want to stop taking it.

Here’s a video a friend sent me and this, along with counselling and the Zoloft, has really helped me.

@rashida No, not really.
In their defense, maybe they wanted a more serious relationship and I was just the wrong guy.

I was plenty upset at the time, but being happily married for the last 28 years, I have a good laugh about it now.

@rashida Oh, of course.
She was rich, literally a Texas oil man's daughter, and rich people are different.
Not better ... but different.
