Neuropathy of the feet: Any advice on how to eliminate the numbness?

Posted by murs @murs, Dec 22, 2023

I have neuropathy in my feet. No pain little tingling. However the numbness is increasing. Can anyone advise of a way to eliminate the numbness?

Thank you, Manny.

I wish you very well.

I really pray to see 85 with such uncurable conditions.

The Diabetes Code by Dr Jason Fung, this book saved my life. He is a nephrologist with a large clinic in Toronto. I lost 60 lbs, no longer required diabetes medication, my A1C runs about 5.7. I sleep better, digest better. I have numbness in the bottom of my feet (and still dealing with that).
Please check it out. Almost no Type 2 diabetic should have to take insulin.

I keep reading that type 2 diabetes is a life-style choice disease. My sister was diagnosed with it and her doctor prescribed a mostly vegatarian diet with only ocasional meat consumption. After just 3 months of this she no longer required any medication! Her sugar levels were normal!

@michhino I have been a type 2 diabetic for about 25 years. I was unable, maybe unwilling, to keep my A1C in check except the last 2 years. For me, I found relief with a weekly 2mg injection dose of Ozempic, twice the diabetic dose. This dosage was for weight loss and it works for me. The neuropathy is there, but I take a test at Mayo called GSM at least once a year that tests for the severity of your neuropathy. Your neurologist may be able to help relieve some of that pain with this test. Also now is a good time for a kidney check as you don't want to go through what I and many others go through as a result of having Type 2. Have a healthier holiday season ahead and a much better year in 2024.

Check out Amazon reviews for Frankincense & Myrrh for neuropathy in feet and Alpha Lipoic Acid capsules - these inexpensive products have NO SIDE EFFECTS and reduced stabbing, pins and needles and numbness by 90% in one week.

I have polyneuropathy causing very tight calves which motivated me to do the research to feel better. Amazon's Alpha Lipoic Acid and tonic of Frankincense and Myrrh for feet have eliminated 90% of the stabbing, numbness and pins and needles I was living with. Thousands of reviews for these products are impressive and true for me too. I plan to add Avocado Soybean Unsaponifiables to the menu after reading a positive review. The best news is these products are inexpensive and work quickly with NO SIDE EFFECTS. Alpha Lipoic Acid may even control blood sugar and cholesterol while working on the neuropathy which certainly beats the blood sugar spikes caused by addictive Gabapentin. At 65, I do a lot of yoga and walk at least 2 miles per day for osteoporosis. Joining the Y is always a good plan too.

Welcome @led1958, Thanks for sharing what has helped you. Neuropathy does seem to be a never ending search for treatments to find out what will help your specific symptoms. The biggest downer is that a lot of what helps one person may or may not help someone else with the same or similar neuropathy diagnosis. I'm fortunate to not have pain with my neuropathy that I've had for going on 30 years but the numbness and balance issues is a problem for me still. I did at one time try most every essential oil tonics known to help neuropathy with little or no effect on my neuropathy. If you haven't already seen the comprehensive list of treatments on the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy's website it's worth a look - https://www.foundationforpn.org/treatments/.

Is your polyneuropathy diagnosis idiopathic or were they able to find a cause?

My neuropathy is caused by compression due to cysts and stenosis at L4-5. Anthem Healthy Indiana Plan offers least medical intervention for "lower back pain" which included a Physical Therapist instructing Yoga without benefit of Radiology evidence. Backwards spinal flexion under direction of Community Hospital Physical Therapy in June 2023 triggered neuropathy. Prior to this visit, HealthNet served by IU Health at the Barrington Clinic, Indianapolis consulte me that my Medical Records were "Medical treatment for an alias piece of trash". Many years earlier a relationship with a cardiologist from IU Health suggested suicide if he was ever caught. I did not return for more Physical Therapy and suffered a fall with elbow fracture due to unsteady gait occurred afterwards. Treatment was denied. As of 2023, IU Health has updated bone loss and neuropathy records with CT, MRI, and x-rays and appointments instructing me to buy glucosamine chondrointin and calcium carbonate (????) for severe osteoporosis. IU Health Spine Center now describes the surgical outlook as "doing construction on sand". IU Health maintains bottomless refills of Gabapentin, Duloxetine, Lidocaine patches at CVS Pharmacy which are unused. Symptoms including tightness in calves with difficulty standing when arising in the morning. Numbness up to knees was notable following the 2023 crippling backwards flexion session with a Community Hospital Physical Therapist many miles from my home. Frankinscence and Myrrh were shocking for effective remediation of burning, stabbing, pins and needles on feet and ankles. Alpha Lipoic Acid has only added to relief. Thankfully, I am now in a financial situation where moving from Indiana is possible. A lawyer did review a 2012 HIPAA violation connected with a Franciscan Health unauthorized consultation and was shocked by the non-medical commentary. Unfortunately, the Indiana medical profession has historically shielded itself from malpractice cases. The attorney suggested further legal exposure of medical records slander.

I use Frankincense oil & Arnica gel (both available on Amazon). It relieves some of the pain. Must use both products as Frankincense alone can burn the skin.

Great! Congrats to her. Fung pushes low carb (especially avoiding sugar and starch) and get full feeling from healthy fats. “Type II diabetes is a dietary disease and can only be cured with diet.”
I’m also a vegetarian.

And I apologize for going off topic. I got a bit over excited with the diabetes stuff.
