did anyone have neuropathy as their presenting symptom?

Hello @willam. Neuropathy may stem from lymphoma but more often it’s the side effect of the treatment for lymphoma (chemotherapy) which can bring about neuropathy. From reading through your history you’re experiencing metastasis in the liver. Are you being treated for the cancer?
Is this neuropathy something new for you?

My doctor is monitoring for liver mets for neuroendocrine cancer. He and I are worried I also have radiation-driven lymphoma. That is why I am reaching out about whether anyone has had that as the first presenting symptom--I have strong neuropathy in my feet and just prickling elsewhere on my body/face. All recent past three months or so. Do you know how often it is the first presenting symptom? Also heard it shows up with lymphoma of the tonsils.
thank you.

Ps-- I have also had breast cancer and a meningioma. I'm exhausted.

Yes, I had neuropathy as one of the symptoms of a leukemia relapse. If you' are having neuropathy, that is definitely something your doctor would want to know about.

In my case, as best as I understand it, leukemia cells got into the central nervous system and resulted in inflammation. The resultant swelling put pressure on the nerves, which caused the neuropathy.

One of the reasons to tell your doctor about the neuropathy is that it's easier to deal with it at earlier stages rather than later stages. By the time I finally got evaluated by a neurologist I could barely walk even with the help of a walker. I have improved since then.

I am grateful to the neurologist who evaluated me. She seemed to be more on top of things than my oncologist. It was the neurologist who actually admitted me to the hospital for treatment for leukemia.

very helpful. Thank you. I will go find a neurologist. Did you know about your relapse because of bloodwork?
Where was your neuropathy?

Hi,
My blood results are interesting. My absolute monocytes are 485, my lymphocytes are about 1600--while they are in range I understand many lymphomas are diagnosed with blood results in range. Did your doctor look at the ratio between the two? My ratios are off.
I have neuropathy in the toes and balls of my feet. No large lymph nodes in neck , armpit or groin.

How did people get diagnosed? Thank you. Mom of a teenage who needs her. any help on how best to get diagnosed would be much much appreciated.

@willam, how are you doing? Any update on your diagnosis?

no real update. Saw a neurologist --he is doing tests this week to see if the neuropathy is caused by nerve damage at the end of my nerves or at the root of my nerves. I get blood tests in two weeks . I get an abdominal mri in three weeks.

I am desperately trying to find out if others got diagnosed with lymphoma via their blood work and if so what were the key numbers that signaled a problem.
