Need opinions on Spiculated nodule update?

Posted by rtyrrell @rtyrrell, Jun 10 1:28pm

Four months ago a ct found a 5mm Spiculated nodule on the upper right lobe. Three months later a follow-up scan showed it was gone but a 10 mm Spiculated nodule with satellites in the right lower lobe. One month follow up to get a RADS number showed it almost gone? It said probably an infection or inflammation? Do they just come and go that quickly? I have an appointment with a Pulmonologist in two weeks and lots of questions. Thankyou everyone!!

So scary when anything is happening in your lungs and frustrating when answers are vague. I can tell you I have had lung NETs and DIPNECH for decades with over 50 nodules scattered across both lungs. Suddenly a few months ago many new nodules showed up in the CT scan in my bottom right lung. Two radiologists thought they were more likely impacted mucus because two old nodules appear to be blocking the airways to that section. Still monitoring the situation but the point is maybe your nodules were never really nodules and that’s why they disappeared so quickly. CT scans aren’t exactly clear photographs. Just throwing out a possibility. Hope you get the answers you need and your doctors stay on top of the situation.

Because they can disappear like that, many pulmonologist or radiologists will recommend short term follow up rather than an immediate biopsy.

@rtyrrell, Gone?! That's great news, but of course curious. Our lungs are sensitive, and it sounds like your body took care of you. Did you happen to have much lab work completed when the nodule was first found? Any fungal or inflammation type testing? That may be a question to add to your list for the pulmonologist.
