Need information on Laryngopharyngeal Reflux

Posted by ashby1947 @ashby1947, Mar 5, 2022

My ENT doc just diagnosed me with Laryngopharyngeal Reflux, or "silent reflux". I had never heard of it. I thought the only kind of reflux came with heartburn, et. al., that we always hear about. Learn something new everyday! I had been unable to use my voice for 3 weeks. A round of Z-Max has helped that and I now have my voice back. I have post-nasal drip. I have changed from a Neti pot to Navage, and that seems to help. I've just been tested for allergies. He has suggested using Gaviscon, but I'm reluctant because of the possible side effects. My PCP put me on Nexium a while back, but I was nauseated and had diarrhea. This is the first time I've had the throat problems. I would enjoy receiving feedback from any of you who have had experience with this kind of reflux. I hope today is a good day for you! Sue

@linda505

I only take it at night. Unfortunately it doesn't have that affect on me. But it does close the LES enough that I don't get acid shooting up my throat.

So are you saying that melatonin helps to close the Lower esophageal valve. Because if that is true, I would take it every night.
