Nausea 12 days out from knee replacement

Posted by cindymattern @cindymattern, Nov 9 5:19am

I am 13 days out and I wake up nauseous, when I eat I am nauseous etc.. it subsides some but if I am up to much I am nauseous. This never happened with my first replacement. Off pain meds, off Xarelto for 12 days, and all ortho says is take Zofran. No constipation and I drink water throughout the day. I had a spinal for anesthesia. Don't feel I should still be this nauseous. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why?

I had nausea for several weeks and couldn't eat . I lost 25lbs the first 10 days.
I took Zofran every 3 hours, so I could at least eat jello or pudding, sometimes dry toast. That was horrible. I didn't experience any nausea with my first knee surgery. Lots of prayers 🙏 everyday

I wonder why with the second we have so much nausea. It’s so odd. Hard to do PT with this nausea

Could be your bodies reaction to pain . I found 7 up or any clear bubbles and arrowroot cookies really helped . Just having something to calm your stomach and don’t be afraid to burp loud and often 🙂 those nasty drugs we need take awhile to get out of our systems …this too shall pass chin up

@cindymattern I had both done at once and felt so nauseous I expected a baby to arrive 🙂 not really but it lasted 3 weeks

Yes, not at first but within a week after surgery. Sort of an appetite but could not stomach anything. I blamed it on lack of sleep

During recovery from knee replacement , I would experience pain and I would get nauseous. For me the two must be connected somehow. Maybe you are feeling nausea but it is really just plain old pain. I took zofran for nausea too.

Are you on anti-biotics?

@gardeningjunkie no. Things got much better when we stopped the blood thinner (12 days) and 4 days later I talked to no GP and we started 7.5mg Meloxicam, 30mg Prevacid and Tylenol 1 every 8 hours. Nausea is totally gone, eating normal now and doing so much more since I can be up and not feel like getting sick.
