Myofascial release

Posted by annie1 @annie1, 2 days ago

There was a discussion a few months ago about Myofascial release with a directory of practioners but I can't find it now. Does anyone know about that ? Can it help with long standing nerve compression ?

I don't have any experience but think the answer to your question is it can help with nerve compression but not sure if the nerves are actually damaged vs compressed. @jenniferhunter may have some more thoughts or suggestions.

@johnbishop my osteopath/MD sometimes does it, seems to get tight muscles to release tension, often a source of pain…

Tried to get an appointment with your osteopath but I never got a call back, although my voicemail tends to fill up. I'll try them again. I am worried that I might have nerve damage.

Does anyone have any information on how to know if your nerves are permanently damaged due to stenosis? And how would that be mitigated if it can be even partially? I'm quite worried now that I have permanent nerve damage since I put off having fusion for many years since I have osteoporosis. I had laminotomy without fusion but then I developed a spondylosis after that with a bone slipping forward. Anyway the question is does anyone out there have permanent nerve damage from longstanding stenosis?

@annie1 seeing your message, are you from the NYC area, the one to whom I sent a contact # ? Try texting rather than calling, since that might move faster. Dr. Volokitin, a busy professor, has limited office hours, only Monday and Friday afternoons… wish you better luck getting help.
