Myelodysplastic syndromes and stomach problem?

I have been recently diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes. It 77 yrs old I thought getting tired and weak and just don't feel good was age related. For the last 2-3 years my guts just haven't felt right. Not sick or painful, I figured I was getting stomach cancer or something. Doctor checked, tested many times but nothing. Then by accident recently I researched and found cancer only grows in an acidic environment. I mentioned to take a little baking soda in water to keep your stomach and body alkane. (non acidic). Anyways, I took the baking soda and within 15 mins my guts felt like a 20 year old. Only takes about 1/3 of a thimble full 2-3 times a day. The doc said I can also by over the counter anti-acid tablets over the counter.

I’m 77 and dealing with the same issue.
What helps me is also baking soda or TUMS.
Having a healthy stomach really does make life much easier.

My doctor said is was probably caused by a chemical. When I mentioned I had been in Viet Nam, she was very interested.
Does anyone else have myelodysplastic syndromes and had been around a chemical?
If not, what do you think caused your myelodysplastic syndromes?
My earliest indication something might not be right is 2-3 years ago I noticed simple routine things like just pulling weeds in the garden after 1/2 hr I'd feel weak, semi sick and I'd just lay down in the garden for 5-10 mins until the weakness passed. About the same time frame, I started getting a few little bumps on my back, chest and they would itch. My reg doc sent me to a dermatologist and he have me ointments but didn't help. At that point we weren't aware I had myelodysplastic syndromes.

I am one of 5 siblings. I have genetic mutations and after breast cancer i took Lynparza, which may have a side of MDS. I chose a transplant and not wait and see.

That said, I grew up across the street from a dump that took in chemicals in Southern California. What are we affected by? I do not know.

I. Have MDS with anemia. I have been anemic for years so I don't know how long I have had MDS. But I take a prescription for nausea which I have had for at least two years. Nauzine which is over the counter works good also.

I just came from a friends house and we got talking about acid in my stomach and he said he used to have it a few years ago. He was on one prescription for a couple years then insurance wouldn't pay for it any more. They his doc said to get this stuff over the counter. What it does is stop acid from being produced. He talks one in the morning and hes good till the next morning.

I took a picture of the box but I don't see any way to attach it. The name of the stuff is Omeprazole 20 mg. My wife just picked some up and we will see how it works. I'll let you know. you can by them at Amazon. I was told our local store sometimes have them on sale by 1 get one free.
