Myasthenia Gravis and heat

Posted by beekeeperj @beekeeperj, 2 days ago

I’ve recently started on Mestonin with excellent results. My neurologist said he would explain everything if my blood work confirms. I already had a family vacation planned in the Caribbean and had read about heat effects.
What I’m wondering if anyone has experienced shortness of breath from the heat which becomes severe with any outdoor exertion such that I am breathing very loudly and harshly and trying to catch my breath.

Naturally I’m spending a lot of time in AC but I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this level of SOB and should I be concerned?

Thanks

Cholinergic Crisis. Pyridostigmine may cause a serious condition called cholinergic crisis. Cholinergic crisis may cause worsening muscle weakness, which could include serious breathing problems. It can be hard to tell if it is different from myasthenic crisis, which happens when your myasthenia gravis gets worse. Get help right away if you have any of the following symptoms of cholinergic crisis.
Shortness of breath or trouble breathing
Call your doctor right away. They may want you to discontinue the medication. If you are feeling short of breath, don't hesitate. Emergency techs can at least give you oxygen.
