My meds for chronic pain are barely working anymore.

Posted by almostfamous @almostfamous, Mar 7 3:12pm

I have had a degenerative hip joint problem for years but I broke my ankle on the other side a few years ago and now I have no good side to lean on . Sometimes the pain and weakness is too much to bear even with a walker. I take tramadol and diclofenac but it does not help that much. Is there any other treatment drug or supplement that might help me?

Hey there. There is a new non-opiod pain med called Journavx (Suzetrigine) that has just been approved.

Can you ask your doctor about it to see if its a good fit for you?

I keep hearing about it and I personally do not know much about it. It's supposed to block the pain signals before they reach the brain.

I'm so sorry you are battling this. Praying for you. Blessings...

Except it's short acting and expensive. Probly worth a shot.

I’ve had great success with 2400 mg of ibuprofen a day, in addition to medical marijuana. Either a hybrid strain or sativa. Everyone reacts differently so it’ll take a while to experiment what your dosage will be as well as what your personal choice as to edibles, capsules, vapes, or good ‘ol fashioned roll a joint.
If you can’t sleep because of pain, the Indica strain will have you sleeping like a baby. So much better for your body then pharmaceuticals.

Have you considered a hip replacement?

Since I am 70 years old and my last major surgery was so debilitating (hysterectomy for uterine cancer) 10 years ago, I pretty much decided that it was not for me.

Have you tried using TENS therapy? Also have you tried any steroid injections or nerve burnings? I use TENS and get injections. The ablation thing didn't work for my issue but it's worth a talk with your doctor.

Tylenol arthritis two pills twice a day is the only thing I can take. Ibuprofen was hard on my kidneys and everything else I had side effects.

Please, please take care with using Ibuprofen because the current recommendations for ibuprofen are to limit daily use to no more than 30 days. Dosing can range from 400 mg to 800 mg up to 4 times a day, with a daily maximum of 3200 mg per day. Ibuprofen can reduce blood flow to the kidneys, which may lead to kidney damage (I speak from personal experience - as it led to Chronic Kidney Disease stage 3)….😊
