What diagnostic tests did you have done to confirm Multiple Myeloma?
I was diagnosed with MM in Aug. 2021. My Dr did not do some tests I feel he should have like a PET scan. In this report it says the is "physiologic metabolic activity in the tonsils." I have not had my tonsils since I was 19 yrs old. I just turned 60. Can someone explain this to me please? Thanks!

@tmcclint92 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I'm glad you found us, and am curious how you found us? We are not medical doctors, so we cannot offer medical advice, but we do share our experiences.
Reading a result can be confusing, and perhaps anxiety-producing. Have you asked your dr to explain that phrase you are questioning? Are you in an active stage of mm, or the precursor of MGUS. If active, what are the plans for your treatment? My oncologist had explained to me that insurance typically only approves a PET scan twice, and he chooses to use that sparingly, to "keep it in or back pocket" for when we really need it. I have had one, back in 2019.
