MRSA success stories… anyone care to share?

Posted by bigmuscle72 @bigmuscle72, Nov 13, 2023

Hello.

I would love to hear some MRSA deep tissue infection/surgery related success stories, if anyone cares to share. I am going through this hell right now. Post knee surgery related. I need some positivity!
Thanks !

I’m dealing with a similar issue. I had a total knee on 10/12/23. On 10/30/23 I was back in surgery for MRSA eradication in the wound as well as cleaning my blood stream. Now I’m doing all of the necessary things to, hopefully, get rid of it.
Does anyone ever completely kick MRSA?

Hang in there. Just make sure you get a really good ID doctor. What antibiotic protocol are you on?

6 weeks of IV, Daptomycin thru pic line, as well as Rifampin 2 x daily, then 4 weeks of Doxycycline. When that’s over then I’ll be taking “something “ for two years or longer.
With all of these meds I don’t really need breakfast or dinner!

That sounds like a good protocol. I’m hanging in there. Oral minocycline for 3 months. Long road ahead. Thank you for asking

I had MRSA osteomyelitis from surgery on my neck last year. I had a terrible time with the antibiotics mainly because the infectious disease doctor way overdosed me on vancomycin My trough was exceedingly high and caused an acute kidney injury. But outside problems with the antibiotics the infection itself was completely cured. What’s going on with yours that’s crushing you?

Your situation sounds the same as mine. Same three diff infections disease Dr. Now, almost three years, four surgeries: too much vancomycin, daptomycin, and more. I would end up with an acute kidney injury.\ as well. Looking back, I see everyone was watching Mrs. and Infection. No one was watching my kidneys. My sister, who was a nurse, looked at my blood work and became very concerned. She mentioned it numerous times to the knee surgeon and infectious disease doctors. They changed the subject. Stating they have to take care of the infection. So now here I am getting reading to go on dialysis.

I will tell you that it stays in your system but can (go to sleep) I started calling it. My brother got it in the hospital from a simple knee replacement. I would be cautious about the antibiotics. I wish you the very best.
