I am looking for others diagnosed with microscopic colitis

I am looking for others diagnosed with microscopic colitis. I'm new to the group and the condition. Any help or information about what my future holds would be appreciated.

@volleyballfan Get the Budesonide and thank the stars it exists. I had no side effects except confidence within a week that I could be more than 10 feet from my bathroom after 7 months of hell.
I had success after Budesonide but sadly relapsed a few months later and had to do another round - again successful but again relapsed. I am now on 3mg a day as maintenance. And I still thank the stars.

@pb50
Thank you, very reassuring. Did you get constipated? Started Budesonide yesterday.

I don’t recall any - but frankly I might have welcomed it after 7 months of horrendous colitis. That said, I am prone to medication-caused constipation -and find that the best natural solution is 3 cups a day of green salad with a small amount of an oil-based dressing like Italian just to toss it. I believe green leaf lettuce, spinach, or arugula are more effective than iceberg. I just throw a protein in - salmon, chicken, egg, tuna, etc - and spread that 3 cups over a couple of meals. You could also add a stool softener if that doesn’t work in a couple of days. I would have been terrified to use a laxative and would check with your doc before doing so.

@pb50 Really ripe bananas will also help. When I have a flare up, I eat the green ones.

Cool. I can never seem to eat bananas before they are over-ripe so I tend not to buy them now that I don’t have kiddos around.

Also, if you like licorice (the real kind - black), try that. It’s a natural laxative. But don’t overdo it on the licorice!

@volleyballfan

Fyi it only took about 5 days for me to thank the GI Gods that it was working!!!

Thank you. How long did you stay on it? Have been in the meds for three days snd already see an improvement.

I am with you, no licorice!
I rarely eat salads as I will pay for it.
Budnesoide definitely helps! Took about 2 weeks after my flare up.

If you get constipated I would take a stool softener but only 1 and the low dose!
We are here for you!
