MGUS, pain and weight loss
My husband was diagnosed with MGUS in late 2024 and has lab work done every six months. My concern is the pain he has in his ribs and mid back. He has also losing weight. He has gone from 207lbs to 187lbs without trying. Imaging (MRI, PET, X-rays) revealed no issues. Has anyone with MGUS had similar symptoms?
What started all this was severe pain in ribs/sternum with noticeable swelling and we still have no answers for it.

Greetings and welcome to Mayo Clinic’s Connect support for Blood cancers and disorders. I’m so sorry your husband has been having such debilitating pain.
MGUS is generally considered to be a benign condition although many of our members have reported pain.
Have you asked for a referral for a second opinion?
Hi! I am looking into it. I want him to see someone at Mayo Clinic or Washington University in St Louis but we were waiting for the lab results he will have mid October.
@314nana2one I’m so sorry you must wait so long. It seems a very long wait for lab results. I’ll post information about getting a Mayo appointment below.
In order to request an appointment, please try this link where you will find an online request form as well as phone numbers for appointments at all three of the Mayo locations, http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
I would also recommend that if your current specialist will not give you a referral that you ask your PCP for a referral.
Also, I suggest that you post any question about visiting Mayo in the following support group, --Visiting Mayo Clinic https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/traveling-to-mayo-clinic/
There you will find lots of information posted by members.
Best of luck. Please let me know how this goes for you.
Let me clarify, he will have labs drawn again in October and we will see what those results show before another opinion.
