Has anyone else in the group been diagnosed with meralgia paresthetica? Meralgia paresthetica is a condition characterized by tingling, numbness and burning pain in the outer part of your thigh. The condition is caused by compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, which supplies sensation to your upper leg.Jan 16, 2020

I was diagnosed with meralgia paresthetica 3 years ago. I understand all the symptoms and work daily to manage them to include no tight clothes, weight loss, lite therapy.
About a year ago I noticed that if any fabric aside from pure 100% cotton touches that one leg with the meralgia paresthetica, all heck breaks loose within a minute. It seems as if the non-cotton fabric instantly aggravates the nerves are on fire and coming through my skin.

I have had to change my wardrobe and bed linings to all cotton. Additionally, when I travel or visit someone I have to take all cotton linings and towels or throws for chairs and bed, even on autplane seats and in hotels. It subsides about 30 to 60 minutes after I rid myself of the non-cotton fabric from that leg. It is just weird.

Does anyone else experience that with meralgia paresthetica or any other Neuropathy and if yes, is there a easier and less expensive or embarrassing fix to make this added symptom go away for good?

Have you been to a neurologist or dermatologist recently? I went to the dermatologist because I thought I had a rash between my shoulder blades- itched a lot. I was diagnosed with Notalgic Paresthetica- the cervical vertebrae are pushing on the nerve root, which causes those nerve endings to be irritated. She prescribed a topical ointment “Triamcinolone 0.1%, apply 2x day as needed”. It really helped to quiet those nerve endings down. I have to restart the application now and then, but it’s really under control now.
