Meningioma: Possible environmental causes
For those of you diagnosed with Meningiomas, could you indicate whether you regularly use hand sanitizers, and your history of receiving dental X-rays? Also what brands of shampoos/conditioners do you use?

It isn't clear what causes a meningioma. Experts know that something changes some cells in the meninges. The changes makes them multiply out of control. This leads to a meningioma. Being exposed to radiation as a child is the only known environmental risk factor for getting meningioma. It's only human nature to search for a cause when diagnosed with a brain tumor. "How could this have happened?" is a question that I think everyone must ask themselves.
@researcher0, have you recently been diagnosed with a meningioma?
The radiation oncologist I saw regarding my meningiomas asked me if I had ever been on estrogen therapy as there is a suspicion that may be related to either a cause or rate of growth.
Only regularly use hand soap. Do have dental x-rays each year. Shampoo is whatever wife uses. Nothing special.
Do not use hand sanitizer, have had x-rays once a year for my teeth only, but did have estrogen patches for 15 years from 50-65. From what I've read I'm pretty sure the estrogen is what invited the M in!!
Very rarely used hand sanitizer except when traveling to non-touristy parts of Yucatan or Turkey. X-rays yearly except when front teeth were replaced twice (early osteoporosis diagnosis.) Always Prell shampoo growing up, then whatever is on sale at Costco. Spent two years in bed from weakness, thought it was extreme depression. Nope, a seizure showed that I had golf ball sized meningioma. Not all the way recovered, but much better after removal! Thanks for the work you are doing.
Yes, a lot! I have used a lot and other sanitizers as well. My first job at age 16 was working in a hospital as a nurse aide. I stayed in same line of work for at least 10 yrs.
Regular yearly dental X-rays for last 40 yrs.
Shampoo and conditioner is mostly Suave or Dove or other mostly generic brands. I’m have never been attached to any one brand.
