memory lapses
Hello,
Just wondering since my peripheral neuropathy diagnosis was this year.
A number of times during the day I go to do something and as soon as I get to where to do it, I go completely black. I find myself having to retrace backward inside my memory to locate what I wanted to do and then do it.
Any comments, thoughts, etc...???
Take care and have a serene day,
gus

@andyjustin
Neuropathy pain can indeed cause various types of memory issues.
Gabapentin can also cause memory problems as can most other anticonvulsants.

I do this all the time. I am in my mid50s and believe it is aging plus could be tied to long COVID, cardiovascular health, plus I have cervical myelopathy which is compression injury of my spinal cord. I also have peripheral neuropathy/small fiber neuropathy but don’t know if that affects my memory.
Have you seen a neurologist to have a full evaluation and brain MRI? Have you had an evaluation by a cardiologist to check vascular health? Depending on your lung function, you might see a pulmonologist and have a sleep study done for sleep apnea.
Hi John,
Thank you so much and I shall add the links to the growing list of links in the neuropathy folder of my favorites in the browser. I shall definitely look into this.
Thanks again and have a serene day,
gus
Hello,
I have been through everything you mentioned and I do have a new neurologist who is quite helpful in walking me through this wild condition. Things with it keep changing almost on a daily basis. I am now experiencing a rise in body temperature and feeling warmer tha normal. I gus we have to keep expecting the unexpected.
Take care and have a serene day,
