Medication resistant fibromyalgia
I have been on cymbalta for 5 years with breakthrough pain. I have tried gabapentin, pregabalin, diclofenac sodium, and currently coming off tramadol as it stopped working also.
I tore my meniscus in March and got a cortisone shot in it in June which helped a lot. Unfortunately it “wore off” after two months and that pain has caused a huge flare that I am currently dealing with. Any advice for me? I’m getting pretty frustrated 😣

I take my pain med every 6 hours with no break though. Maybe they could shorten up the time between doses.
Sorry to hear about your pain.
Wish you the best.
none of the FM drugs worked out for me so I take 100 mg doxycycline, an anti biotic one of the first medications given. It takes the edge off the pain.
gleockner1961, I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I empathize. I've had Fibromyalgia for almost 31 years. Ithas worsened with age and is accompanied with other autoimmune issues & bilateral arthritis.
I cannot tolerate any of the meds for Fibromyalgia, except, Flexeril occasionally. I use Voltaren Gel, Espom Salt
soaks and Tylenol. I do find an occasional massage helps tremendously. When I am on antibiotic for a
sinus infection, I do not hurt as much with the Fibro. Also, if I have to take a prednisone taper, my pain is
almost gone all over. BUT, I know the side effects of steroids. Why? Both of these meds reduce inflammation.
I am intolerate to PT. Swimming and walking are the best exercises for Fibromyalgia.
Personally, I steer away from the brand new meds and try and stick with the old tried and true ones as I find
they have the least side effects. It seems I am sensitive to everything for Fibromyalgia.
Rest as much as you can....use heat packs....eat high protein meals....move as much as you can...laugh as much
as you can.
Praying for you. Blessings & Prayers.....
Oh thank you so very much for your advice and kind words!
I wish I had an answer for you. Can I ask...I've never been without pain. How much Cymbalta were you taking when you didn't have breakthrough pain? I take it but maybe I'm not taking enough.
FYI
I am 79 and have taken Flexeril for over 30 years to control fibromyalgia. It worked fine with no side effects. 10 mg AM and PM. Just taken off it this year due to other issues.
I did take Lyrica for a year but stopped due to blistering on hands and feet.
I hope this helps someone.
