A lot of people take these drugs for a year or two and then get off them and don’t need them again or for a very long time if at all.
I’ve been working with a guy who had been on Nubeqa for six months after a year on Zytiga, His Lupron shot has expired. He stopped Nubeqa a month ago, His PSA has been undetectable for a couple of years.
A lot of people just go on these drugs for a fixed amount of time. Many of them can stay off them permanently or at least for a long time. Other find they have to go back because they have a reoccurrence.
In my case, stage 4, high volume metastatic hormone sensitive pc SWOG 9346 would say no. But, my Mayo Rochester oncologist said maybe next year, after 2 years of treatment and a clean PMSA PET scan we should consider it. I can see the logic in pausing, giving my body a break but I’m doing pretty well on the meds as I’m relatively young (58) and really am pushing for progression free survival rather than relief from the side effects. BTW, my local oncologist initially said I would be on the drugs for life so there’s that…
Thanks for your honesty. People take other medications for life as they deal with diabetes hbp etc so what's the difference. God has provided us Dr's and medications to help us which I am thankful that He does care about us
I had a RP nine years ago. Three years later, my PSA started going up so I had salvage radiation and six months of Lupron. Three years after that my PSA started rising again and my PSMA PET scan and subsequent biopsy showed a lesion on my sacrum. They radiated that and I was put on Lupron and Abiraterone for three years. My PSA has remained undetectable and my PSMA PET scans have been clear for the last four years. I have been off cancer drugs for the past year.

Your God has also given some of us cancer.
The doctors and medications were provided by science.
