Welcome to Mayo Connect. Often you cannot pick your specific provider at Mayo. If you’re a new patient, you submit an appointment request online at http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63 , you will receive a call within 3 business days to set up a time to talk with an appointment coordinator. You or your doctor will be given instructions on how to submit relevant medical records, test results, imaging studies, etc. Mayo Clinic doctors review records sent by you or the referring physician in order to tailor each patient's visit to the right tests and provider needed. This also helps ensure the patient is scheduled with a provider who has the expertise that best match to their needs and condition. Appointments are based on your medical condition, urgency and available appointments.

Are you a current Mayo patient, or just starting the process?

As pointed out by Laurie, Mayo will review your records etc. And Specialists have subspecialties, so it depends on what your health issue is. For example, I first saw a Pulmonologist focused on lung cancer. I later saw a different Pulmonologist for interstitial pulmonary fibrosis
