Mayo Parking Ramp Closure on July 26th - Rochester MN
Mayo's Rochester Damon Parking Ramp will permanently close for demolition on July 26th. The Damon parking ramp is across the street from Gonda entrance on 3rd Ave SW. Patient parking will transition to the West Parking Ramp located at 515 West Center St. Patient can start using the West Ramp starting July 26th.
The following webpage shows suggested route to arrive at West ramp along with suggestion on where to park based on building your first appointment is: https://www.mayoclinic.org/rochester-construction/downtown-patient-arrival-departure-routing
The West Parking Ramp is still connected to Mayo buildings via subway, but it is few blocks farther away from the Gonda building. There will be Mayo employees present to assist with wheelchairs if needed. But with all the street construction and parking changes, you should plan according to arrive at your appointments on time.
The Graham parking ramp will remain open and valet parking will still be available for a charge. In addition, many visitors find they can avoid driving downtown altogether by taking advantage of free hotel shuttles.

I am not a Mayo employee, just a patient and volunteer mentor, but want to make you aware of the changes coming. As a patient who visits the downtown campus often, I face the same frustration with parking as many of you do. All I can do is be patient and plan ahead.

@roch Thank you for this update. We will be heading to Mayo in Rochester in mid-August. We plan to park our car at our hotel and avoid driving in the construction zone.
I'm heading there in a few weeks. We love the valet parking at Gonda. That really takes the stress off the whole visit. The valet folks are always friendly and helpful. Its only a few bucks more than parking in the ramp. So convenient. Thanks for the update. I'm sure the street closures will be enough of a challenge. Just think of how great Mayo will be when its all done!
Will Graham still be acccessible via 3rd Avenue?
@bajjerfan
Yes, Graham's entrance will still be off 3rd Ave one-way. Recommended route is Broadway to Center Street then right turn on 3rd Ave. Then you avoid the congestion in front of Gonda building. In addition, when start demolition of Damon parking ramp, 3rd Ave may be be reduced to one lane by Gonda Building.
So if Graham is full then what will be the best way to the other parking ramp?
@bajjerfan We were in Rochester in May, 2025 in the construction zone. There was very good signage on what streets were closed and detour signs. I found it challenging to figure out how to walk through the construction - but for cars, there was no problem.
@bajjerfan
That is good question because I am sure that Graham will fill up. I suggest going past Graham entrance and taking a left on 2nd St NW. Proceed to 6th Ave NW for another left, then left on Center Street and then left on 5th Ave. That should get you to West lot entrance.
I was there in June 2025, and had no issues. I don't want to drive in square circles because I missed a turn tho. I'm going back in late August. It's painful for me to have to walk so Graham would be my first and best choice.
So what is the current best access to Graham coming up south Broadway and if Graham is full the preferred route to access the west ramp a couple of blocks away?
Here's a map showing how to get to both the Graham and the west ramp - https://www.mayoclinic.org/rochester-construction/downtown-patient-arrival-departure-routing
