Hi all, I have a problem and a question; Lets say I have some malabsorption/malnutrition issues for the last year (still not officially diagnosed)...but those are my thoughts based on the infos i read on the internet. Sudden weight loss after blood donation (8kilos in 3 weks) , dry, pale, somewhere saggy skin, vertical nail ridges, greasy stool/diarrhea, hair falling all over body (legs, eyebrows, pubic hair), bleeding from gums, swollen tongue with white coating, sunken eyes and so on... could point towards that diagnosis...I even lost facial fat and fullness of my face like that lipoatrophied HIV positive ppl. (I dont have HIV btw). Even my sweat is smelling on ammonia indicates my body is breaking down more proteins for fuel maybe? So its either malnurishement or some of those issues like SIBO or BAM fat malabsorption or carb malabsorption + nutrient malabsorption...or Whipple's maybe? Got tested for celiacs, blood draw tTIga, negative.
Ive been eating very bad food for a quite a time, like only junk food like hot dogs and stuff like that, not too many vegetables and fruits...usually food with high calories but without nutritional value + Ive been donating blood every 3 months...is it possible that i got my body to the point of malnutrition? Cuz i even got anemic (iron deficient) dark circles around eyes, but ive managed to correct that with iron pills... Anyway...are those malnutrition symptoms? And, could malabsorption/malnutrition cause elevated cholesterol levels and triglyceride levels? Maybe from constant weight loss body is burning stored fat and regards to that i now have constantly elevated lipids? Ty

You definitely sound ill and need a thorough workup for malabsorption syndromes, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, vitamin deficiencies, etc . and I would stop donating blood until you get a diagnosis and treatment for what ails you. It seems a gastroenterologist would be your best bet as far as specialists beyond a primary care doctor. I hope you have insurance and can get better food intake. You might want to reread my previous posts to you about your situation.

My daughter has all the same symptoms she has bacterial overgrowth in her small intestine they found it by doing a breathing test to detect bacteria she was put on an antibiotic for 14 days that didn’t help she is now on the low god diet if this doesn’t help she will have to have surgery

I havent been donating blood ever since the first symptoms arised...i cant because i have high lipid profile. So i started now with TWINLABS MULTIVITAMINS and SUPER ENZYMES. I hope i can get a referal to gastroenterologist again from my PCP as well for immunologist in the meantime.

Are you saying she may have surgery due to SIBO?

Hi all, I dont have any diagnosis,yet...but i do have a problem and a question; I have some malabsorption/malnutrition issues for the last year (16months cca, a month or two less or more). Sudden weight loss after blood donation (8kilos in 3 weeks) , dry, pale skin, longitudinal nail ridges, greasy yellow stool, hair falling all over body (legs, eyebrows, pubic hair), bleeding from gums, swollen tongue with white coating, sunken eyes and so on...I even lost facial fat and fullness of my face like that lipoatrophied HIV positive ppl. (I dont have HIV btw). I sweat a lot...like i never sweat that much before...No night sweat though...Reduced appetite but i feel hunger. Bloating and excessive gasses. I have elevated uric acid levels and elevated LDL and trigylcerides since the start of symptoms.
Cant get any weight back...I got alot of test in these 16months...My GP first thought of something with bowels isnt right so i got a refferal to GI specialist, which too thought of bowel problems cuz of iron deficiency anemia present at that time and VIT D and folate levels low. So we did Transabdominal sonography, MSCT of abdomen thorax and pelvis, Mri enterography, colonoscopy and gastroscopy...(all clear)
I got tested for celiacs, blood draw tTIga, negative. ANA and RF factors negative. Blood cancers, negative...CA 19-9, CEA AND OTHERS NEGATIVE...CHROMOGRANINE A negative.
Although a last few days i have some funny back pain (but i do sit much cuz of work so cant tell)
So ive been battling for a diagnosis for a long time and nothing. Now im heading back to my GP so she can give me another refferal to GI spec. cuz i think i might have EPI...so i have a few questions...
1. what bothers me more, if i may have EPI with PANCAN? Do these symptoms sound like it?
2. if there is, its probably on the body or tail cuz i would defintely have jaundice already if its in the head?
and 3. (RADIOLOGY EXPERT QUESTION MAYBE) Symptoms occured somewhere in October 2022. We did MSCT (Siemens Somatom Definition AS) with dye of abdomen in February 2023. and MRI of abdomen but with enterography protocol on Tesla 1.5 WHAT ARE THE CHANCES that an early stage pancreatic cancer is missed on those imaging protocols? Especially when radiologist on Mri of abdomen was searching for enterographic abnormalities and MSCT radiologist didnt know what are we searching. Thanx in advance

+ i had an transabdominal sonography checkup in January this year, came back normal

Hi all, I have a problem and a question; Lets say I have some malabsorption/malnutrition issues for the last year and a half (still not officially diagnosed)...but those are my thoughts based on the infos i read on the internet. Sudden weight loss after blood donation (8kilos in 3 weks) , extremely dry, pale, flaky cold skin, vertical nail ridges, mushy stools mostly mornings or diarrhea, hair falling all over body (legs, eyebrows, pubic hair), bleeding from gums, swollen scalopped tongue with white coating, sunken eyes and so on...recurrent infections like im having respiratory colds often...and they last like for a month.. I even lost facial fat and fullness of my face like that lipoatrophied HIV positive ppl. (I dont have HIV btw). Joints cracking and poping...no pain. Im gaining weight only on my abdomen but losing fat deposits everywhere else, maybe even muscle tissue, cant tell. So its either malnurishement or some of those issues like SIBO or BAM fat malabsorption or carb malabsorption + nutrient malabsorption...or Whipple's maybe? Got tested for celiacs, blood draw tTIga, negative.Parasitic stool tests negative, porfirine test ok, fecal elastase test ok. ANA tests negative, RF negative. Gastroscopy ok,colonscopy ok, transabdominal ultrasound ok, MRI of abdomen ok, enterography ok, MSCT with dye ok...you name it...
And since starting of symptoms ive been having elevated lipid levels and uric acid....and i have a bit of polyclonal elevation of IGA levels...4.37
Its like im having a cachexia....:/
any insights anyone??

Speaking as a former Oncology and Hospice RN, it is a precious and rare gift to infants, children and your community at large that you give blood regularly. On the other hand, the quality of your donations is being placed at risk d/t your declining health markers.

I, too, was a regular blood donor for a period of years until the medications I needed to take interfered with the donation protocols.

I cannot stress enough that your first responsibility is to yourself! To that end, a visit to your doctor vs. establishing care with a doctor of your choice will reward you with information about your personal health that you’ll need in order to take good care of yourself in order to live a long and healthy life.
