Lyrica / Pregabalin: What dose helps you with Fibromyalgia pain?

Posted by ripley @ripley, Nov 14 12:14pm

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia a few years ago and experience muscle pain and fatigue almost every day. My Dr just prescribed a low dose of Pregablin -- 25mg twice a day, which she said I could take "as needed".

Does anyone else take a low dose of this drug and receive pain relief? Also, does anyone take this drug "as needed". My pharmacist said this should be okay on such a low dose.

Hi. I was FINALLY diagnosed back in 1999... it literally took YEARS to find the 'right' medication to help the daily, constant pain. It was Lyrica. I do not take it PRN. I take 125 mg (two different pills) three times a day. It has helped keep the monster at bay...

After years of medication for fibromyalgia and no relief I started running from it - literally. I lost weight, I got in better health. I quit taking the meds that were barely doing anything in the first place and I feel great unless I get sick and don’t run for more than a few days.

I was diagnosed with FMS in 1997. I had some terrible years with it but I also have had some really good years in between flare-ups and pain. I take 150 mg of Pregabalin / Lyrica twice daily. I started with neurontin then switch to Lyrica when it came out. I like Lyrica better for FMS. I find I have more pain in the last year after I'm active in some way meaning exercising.

Did you start the Lyrica at a low dose and work up to 150mg/2xday? If so, did a lower dose help you for a while before you had to increase? Any side effects? Thank you.

I do not think I started at a lower dose of lyrica. I truly don't remember it's probably 20 years ago. Who have much of a problem with side effects.
Wish you well!

I have played around with doses under doctor.
If i take 150mg in am and pm i feel great but it dumbs down my brain . I cant remember things , words etc
I feel very relaxed
I get tremors with hands
I use at pm cause it gets me a good night sleep
So I now use 100 mg at night only.
I use panadol only for pain as needed
I find it need to walk or swim i must keep moving or i am at my worst
I have a flare at present i just do my best and strive to move and distract my mind.
I have tried many things
I believe you have to try out what works for you
I am not sure what benefit you would get from only 25 mg but you are different to me
All the best
Just shareing my experience

I just recently went on Lycra. I started at the lower dose and worked up. I’m currently at 1.5 two times a day. I probably won’t ask to go higher because of the side effect of feeling slightly inebriated.

What is the mg dose of the 1.5 of Lyrica that you mentioned? Thanks

I think she means 150 mg twice day
