Lupron: Anyone have muscle weakness and severe leg pain?

Posted by kam23 @kam23, Jul 14, 2023

I have PC and have been on Lupron injections every 3 months for 15 months. I am experiencing severe leg pain in hamstrings and glutes. Has anyone else experienced this or tried monthly shots?

This has been getting worse for the last 3-4 weeks. I’m afraid I’ll be in a wheelchair or have to stop this form of testosterone elimination therapy.

I have been on Lupron since June, 2016. I have injections every six months over a two year period. This is followed by what my oncologist calls a “Lupron Vacation” until my PSA begins to rise. My doctor says I have had an A+ response to Lupron.
Over the past six months I have begun to experience muscle pain in my thighs and lower legs. Has anyone experienced this reaction?

Hello,
May I ask what your Gleason score and prostate cancer stage were before you started Lupron treatment?
Wishing you all the best.

No I haven't. What does a foam roller do?

@maga Myofascial release. That is the tissue that surrounds your muscles. It can get sticky where two muscles touch. Massage therapist actually get their fingers into the edges which is comfortable but helps with recovery if over worked. The roller can also "roll out" knots in your muscles. Are you by chance taking a statin? Statins can also cause thigh pain.

After I quit Lupon , I developed pain in my right shoulder which prompted me to have an c-ray. It revealed mild osteo-arthritis.

@maga you are definitely right, when you said last March is it last year March or this year, testosterone takes time to build back up after Eligard treatment it is a good idea not to take testosterone meds

@bonjas It is this year. I read that lifting weights can increase testosterone. I have been doing that for a long time.

@bonjas I was on Lupron for 2 years. I got my last injection last march. I still have no sex drive. Since my testosterone is only 16. I guess I have to wait until it goes higher. I believe normal is between 300-900. I don't want to take testosterone because of possible side effects.

Oh on the other note Eligard makes your sex drive to zero you are literally chemically castrated during your treatment period.
