Lung nodule being treated as lung cancer due to medical history
I have a small nodule in both lungs for a year now. My pulmonologist seems willing to wait a year before further imaging of other testing. Has anyone had similar experiences.

@barlar, can you explain your situation a bit more? You have 2 small lung nodules, one in each lung? Your pulmonologist would like to monitor them in a year's time, however, the title suggests you are at high risk for cancer. Is that correct?
My sister has been battling stage four lung cancer for about 8 years. She has been as patient at Mayo. Also my father died of lung cancer. I have had breast cancer twice about 30 years apart. I’ve never been a smoker so that is not a risk factor. My pulmonologist at my local hospital doesn’t know if the nodules are cancer.
Have they done a biopsy?
They should do a biopsy

1 ReactionBeing not a smoker does not prevent a person from getting lung cancer. Why is your sister not going to a oncologist. I have lung cancer plus COPD so I go to both. One deals with the copd and the oncologist deals with the cancer. Also another thing I found out, I am a carrier of antitrypsin which causes copd so that can be passed down in families. So a member of either side of my family passed it down to me. But then I smoked so don't know which caused it. Prayers for both you and your sister....... Get all the information you can about the lungs and what to do and prayers to both of you. PS I do ct scans every 6 months to see if anything is growing in my lungs. If there is, they may or maynot make me wait 3 months for another scan then make the decision of what to do. Guess it could depend on what kind of cancer she has too......I sure wouldn't wait a year.......just my feelings .
Hi Colleen, Well its back to waiting time for the lung nodules again.......... Will get checked again in 3 months. I've been thinking...... ok I got copd, lung cancer , my heart isn't great, skin cancer, so I wonder whats the point. These things aren't going to go away,,,,,,,, I may get some help at the moment but then its back to square one with the lungs, flare up with the copd, and off and on removal of the skin cancer, wheres its just cut and remove..........I'm 78, am at assisted living now. When I have a copd flare up and put me on steroids my blood sugar goes sky high so then its insulin and that won't go down until after I am off the steroids. I know my girls and grandkids are always here for me. but my doing things with them is very limited. I love them so much ......anyway, any thoughts about this.......... Joan

Oh I am sorry, I must of misread. Each and everyone has to decide for themselves what they want done and how to go about it and listen to the advice of their drs...... Prayers with you.
