Lumpectomy outpatient

Has anyone had a lumpectomy, leaving straight after surgery no one checking day after? Do most surgeons check in with their patient?

It has clearly gotten even harder since I had an outpatient lumpectomy.
Mine was outpatient by choice, the surgeon would have been happier if I stayed overnight. Received a call and a new medication order 3 hours after I got home.
I also received calls from the surgeon, not the nurse or PA, each day for three days then an office visit on day 4. This is the kind of care I wish that all of you would have received. At the time I felt cared for more than I needed but I never felt like I was out there on my own.
I have always attributed this to the surgeon rather than “health system” when I was treated. The rest of my treatments, I felt out there in the wilderness on my own.
Do you feel like it was the surgeons office or a larger health system failure to care for you?

Wow, I am so impressed that you surgeon called you and checked up on you for three days. I do feel there is a failure. A family friend that is a Dr. checked up on me, not my surgeon. I am grateful for the family friend Dr. that is so kind.

My lumpectomy was outpatient. There the whole day but able to leave about 4 hours after surgery. NOT allowed to drive or get ride share or even the local senior travel. Had to have someone pick me up that could stay with me and required to give them name and contact on entry. If I had mastectomy, would have been required overnight, mastectomy with reconstruction would have been 2 nights. Hospital checked on me day after and 3 days after, recheck with surgeons PA in 2 1/2 weeks.

I had a lumpectomy 3 weeks ago. No phone call the next day but was given a phone # to call with any concerns. I got right in when my drain stopped draining. I hope you have a number to call.
Best wishes on your recovery.

Just out of curiosity, what did they do with the clogged drain? I tried to strip the clogged-up drain, but it didn’t work. 7 days later, the PA removed it. Thanks.
