Low level nausea for several months & nothing helps. Ideas?

Posted by mikejjb123 @mikejjb123, Mar 30 12:43pm

I used to have a period when I would have nausea for several days or so if not weeks but it would go away for a time. Now I have low level nausea that remains constant and has not gone away for at least 2 months. Doesn't matter what I eat or don't. Raise my head when sleep or not. Any ideas what to do? Thanks.

I have had stomach issues for many years. I have taken Tagamet for years. Had so many test. Once they found liver disease they stop looking for anything to do with my stomach. They refer everything back to anxiety. Also have vertigo that makes the nausea even worse. Vertigo just kicked into day so at least 6 weeks my world will be on tilt! On Maui so I am trying to ignore it all!

Mike, I know what it is to have frequent nausea and just try to think "what did I eat, or what did I do to bring this on again?" There are times I suddenly awaken at 2 or 3 AM and the nausea is so bad I cannot get back to sleep. Thats when I take half of a Zofran ODT tab . It is like a miracle .But I don't want to ever overuse a drug. So if my nausea is just light, I pour a nice glass of gingerale, and like the Pediatrician use to tell me when my boys were little, to stir all the bubbles out first. Then I sip on ginger ale and it seems to help. I do not know the cause of your nausea, this works for me--you should definitely run it by your Doc.

I have had constant nausea and constant abdominal pain for 3 years. Zofran didn't help my nausea at all. None of the nausea or pain medications helped until I talked to a real smart nurse who told me to ask my doctors about trying a low dose of haldol. Within 2 days my nausea improved and my constant abdominal pain are getting better also.

Nausea can be caused by anxiety. When my anxiety is bad my entire gastrointestinal tract is a mess. You didn’t state you had trouble with anxiety, but maybe it’s low grade. Just a possibility. 🤷

I rely on ginger and peppermint for nausea.

I use powdered ginger in lots of food and drink. I trust the McCormick brand.

I brew strong peppermint tea, buying Heather's bulk peppermint tea as it is organic, grown in the U.S. and Heather picks out peppermint that is strong.

Have your gallbladder checked. That was the only symptom I had but organ was full of stone and was removed ( with the nausea).

Haldol is a antipsychotic medication but it's also used for pain and nausea when other medications doesn't help.
