Low grade glioma: What tests confirm a diagnosis?

Posted by avaaaaaaaaa @avaaaaaaaaa, Mar 4 5:03am

Hi guys. I had an appt with my neurologist and I have been having temporal lobe seizures for 5 years now and they told me it may be a low grade glioma or cortical dysplasia but aren’t sure. How could they not be sure of that????? What are my next steps? I’m so lost. All they did was set me up for some more eegs and switch me seizure medication

Hello,

You may need an MRI, perhaps even surgery to determine the cause. Sounds to me like your doctors have said "it may be" without further testing.

Sorry to hear this. Please share your concerns with your doctors. They will need to do a pathology biopsy to determine more. You could also ask for a second opinion and/ or a social worker or nurse t guide you thru this.

Best of luck

@avaaaaaaaaa, how are you doing? Did you have further diagnostic testing to confirm the glioma? Is the seizure medication helping?
