Having been tested for thyroid issues it came to light that I am low counts of platelets, eosinophil and monocytes, anyone know why and what is the relevance.

I sometimes copy and paste forum questions into ChatGPT and then forward the answers onto this forum. For more personalized results and even questions to ask your doctor, you can cut and past your question into ChatGPT or other AI service and if you register, the AI information will be archived to your account. If you don't register, it will still answer your question , but the answer will not be saved. At the end of the AI answer you will be asked if you want to explore further which allows you to continue with questions that may come up considering the results you were given. Although I have not confirmed AI medical information , I would suggest that the information is confirmed with your medical professional.

Hope this helps.

Hi @carrie123 Your doctor will be the best person to interpret your blood/lab results. We often receive our test reports hours or days before our doctors get back to us so we’re left trying to figure out what everything means. Searching online, without understanding the details, can lead us down rabbit holes of information and needless stress if we run into articles that don’t really apply to our situation.

It’s just better to wait for your doctor to reply. Were you having symptoms which led to your blood work? Were you previously diagnosied with low or high thyroid levels?

@kit491903, please read the Community Guidelines (https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/about-connect/tab/community-guidelines/) about AI use on Mayo Clinic Connect. See the section called "Guidance about the use of AI."

Mayo Clinic Connect is first and foremost a space to share your health experiences to help and support others with similar health issues.

ChatGPT and other AI assistants can be useful and helpful. A couple of things to keep in mind.
- Do not post long AI generated answers without sharing personal experience with the topic.
- AI tools do not replace human judgment or oversight. Any text, image or video generated by AI should be viewed as a starting point, not verified factual information. It may contain inaccuracies, biases and other problems.
- Fact check and review for accuracy, relevance, and unbiased balance and that the post reflects your words.

Thanks for the information about AI . There is a new AI company, Doctronics https://www.doctronic.ai/our-philosophy/ that specifically educates AI in the medical fields and is intended to help patients understand test results, medications and diagnoses so that their doctor visits can be more informed and useful.

They do not intend to replace doctors or to have their AI used without the patient' personal caregiver involved and confirming individual questions and results. I have not used Doctronics yet, but will try it out before my next Mayo visit on July 29 and I will ask my doctor what he thinks about patients using AI. I will get back to you on his response.

I find asking AI questions useful because it helps me understand the details that will not be given in a doctor visit sometimes because I don't know what questions to ask my doctor. I have found that many on this forum have difficulty getting answers from their doctors and it could be that the patient does not know what to ask their doctor.

Having a rare disease also makes some locations in the US left without medical resources that can optimally treat them. In this case a cautious AI interaction could help them decide how to receive better treatment and evaluate a process to receive options for their particular location.

Since the future of medicine includes personalized medical health these AI tools can help patients on their health journey especially those of a more advanced age who are not used to using technology that can help them interact with the medical real world caregivers.

Some on this forum have mentioned that their doctors have negative responses to their AI questions, but in the future as it is quickly becoming more common, skeptical doctors may have more frequency in patient interaction with AI and some improvement in patient compliance with their treatments.

Good luck
