How did you successfully taper off of 0.5 lorazepam (Ativan)?
Has anyone tapered from 0.5mg of lorazepam per day? Can you share your experience? Thank you.

@berekann, I agree that it can increase your heart rate and the cardiologist will probably not approve that you use it, your dosage is very low compared to what I take but I can’t say how it will affect you and the medication you take.
@frouke the medication is only as needed for tachycardia, and I’m hoping the amount of CBD & CBN will balance it. The person at the dispensary said she hadn’t heard of anyone having issues - but we’ll see what my cardio says! Thanks
@daveshaw It is the same with today’s SSRI’s. Rather than trying to get off them and condemning them embrace them and make your life better.
Does someone who is diabetic trying to wean themselves off insulin?
Let’s get real on this site.

3 Reactions@berekann, I was sent to a cardiologist too and he made no comment about my gummy bears, a lot of doctors don’t have much information on cannabis because it’s not being studied thoroughly, it’s only been legalized for a few years. I don’t think that the dose you want to take is very high but I’m not a medical expert and I think it’s a good idea to check it out with your doctor.

1 Reaction@frouke it was encouraging to speak with the people at the store; they all said they had no negative reports, of either anxiety or tachycardia, and that it was a very good ratio to support sleep.

2 Reactions@frankaventura the book ‘Remember’ by Lisa Genova will give you some reassurance.
Hi!
It has been many years ago but I found that if I kept cutting the lorazepam in half repeatedly, I was effectively able to get off it. I would do it a week at a time and then 3 to 4 days and then less and less until it was just a drop. I noticed that I was wanting to take more and more then realized it was addictive so I just weaned myself off.

2 Reactions@sibritious congrats! An insidious drug for many of us!
A very helpful one for some people, the negativity surrounding this drug is a type of propaganda by Pharmaceutical Industry, my guess is that they have something new to replace benzodiazepines, perhaps less addictive but let’s be clear here that most medications come with a downside to cope with, when you read about how many people have lots of problems with all types of drugs. I don’t want to promote any drugs and in a perfect world we wouldn’t need to take them, just my thoughts.
I was on 1mg 3x daily, I'm now taking.5mg 1x daily and want to quit. Is it possible to taper off by one day and off one day?
Thanks
