Looking to wean off of desvanlafaxine

Posted by marianne3107 @marianne3107, 6 days ago

In May I went from 50 mg a day to 25 mg a day hoping to drop it completely. I was prescribed it for anxiety after taking Citalopram since 2012 and then changing to Escitalopram in 2022. Both were 10 mg. Doc changed to 50 mg Prestiq (Desvanlafaxine) a few years back saying newer drugs were now available that were better.

One of my main reasons to stop this drug is to find out if my fatigue is caused by it. I also don't want to take more medication than I need. I practice yoga, have great job that is flexible allowing me to work from home and I escape winter for two months. I sleep 8-10 hours a night, am active and eat well. Any ideas?
Thanks!

medications and what they can do to you.
wean yourself off slowly and with doctor approval,
off the med too quickly can cause issues, some even big.
i just got bumped up .25 mg. because of a seizure and it took a couple of months to reduce it by .25 mg. it does cause me fatigue issues but it is also a seizure med. i just push ahead and get stronger again just slower pace till i can build back to where i left off. hope this helped if even just a little.

Thank you! When I weaned off of 50 mg to 25 with my doctors approval, I did OK. I had about three or four days about four weeks in where I felt my heart racing and I was jittery. It did not last.
I’m a little scared about the side effects going off completely and I still want to try going from 25 MG to zero.
