Looking for pain relief strategies prior to TRSR

Posted by tekkie50 @tekkie50, Apr 28 10:01am

I injured my shoulder Dec 2025, but was not able to convince my doc to do an MRI until Mar 2026. I have 2 fully torn muscles, 2 partially torn muscles, spurs, bursitis and severe arthritis in my right shoulder. I was hoping to have surgery quickly, but a recent cardiac ablation requires that I not be off blood thinners at all until May 28, So, I am scheduled for TRSR on June 1. In the meantime, my shoulder pain is getting more difficult to ignore and seriously interfering with my sleep. I suspect that my prehab exercises are also an aggravating factor. What are some strategies I can use to help relieve the pain, especially at night?

Have you tried a tens unit yet with a rotation of heat and cold? The combination of muscle stimulation and cold therapy for short periods can reduce the inflammation, while the heat will make it less angry.

Another option is to look into using some kinesio tape to assist with stability for the joint.
