Long lasting hematoma on buttock

Posted by pkoss1 @pkoss1, Apr 7, 2023

Hi I fell down wood stairs almost 1 year ago, I had a horrible bruise, severe swelling on my right buttock. The swelling went down but the hematoma remained with a small bruise that is a half circle around the bottom of the hematoma. My concern is it’s has stayed this size for months. I’m wondering if this is permanent. Has this type of injury happened to anyone else?

I have the same situation. I fell about 20 years ago, with a massive bruise on my left gluteus Maximus. The bruise took a month to fade but I was left with a lump in that area. I never really was concerned about it. It doesn’t cause pain. 🤷

I fell on my coccyx (tailbone) and it hurt for a year about. I had to sit crooked because my flanks were ok but I couldn’t sit straight for hours. I thought I may have cracked it but I never had it checked. I’m somewhat ok now but it was difficult to sit up straight for a year it’s ok now but bothers me just maybe once a month. It’s not painful unless I sit on it. I still have it.

I fell down wooden steps about 7 of them. I had a bruise like I've never seen before and instantly swelled up huge. It's been 2 months and I still have swelling above my buttocks. It's the size of about 4 eggs big one big mass still tender. I'm scared I'll have it forever. Did yours go away? Thanks sounds like we have same injury.

About 30 years ago, I had a nasty bruise from a fall I got while skiing.

It took months to heal and was very tender for another few months.
But it did clear up.

When I had a stroke in 2018, I fell off a front porch and landed hard on my right side. Same story -- big bruise on my right side. I was too preoccupied with the stroke to notice it for a while. It, too, cleared up eventually. I wish my stroke recovery had gone as well.
