I have long covid Anxioty with high blood pressure and fast heart rate. I am taking lorazepam. And they want me to take Propranolol. Has any one had good report by taking the Propranolol?

Hello! Actually, I'm not sure if the medication would be used for the anxiety attacks themselves or for the acceleration of heart rate that accompanies them, as you described. Assuming it's anxiety attacks accompanied by tachycardia, which is palpitation or an increase in heart rate, the use of this medication has shown very good results. It acts through mechanisms that prevent a significant increase in heart rate during anxious episodes, consequently reducing the sensation of chest tightness, sweating, and tremors, typically.
Lorazepam is not recommended for prolonged use, as far as I know. Being a benzodiazepine, it has the potential for abuse due to tolerance, meaning there's a tendency to increase the dose to achieve the same effect after some time of using the medication. Additionally, in individuals with cognitive complaints like brain fog - I'm not sure if that applies to you - they may experience a slight additional decrease in concentration.
Of course, you and your doctor need to decide, but it seemed like a choice worth considering based on what you've described. I'm hopeful that the results will be very positive.

I have been diagnosed with long covid. I had the pain in my stomach for three years. The pain was terrible and sometimes, I wanted to die. I went to 8 doctors, one GI doctor at Cedars Sinai Hospital. No one seemed to be able to help me. I remember a few months ago in your Mayo Clinic blog that one person asked if long covid will ever go away?I am thankful to report that there is hope. After three years of horrible pain, my stomach aches finally went away, and I am free of pain. Prayer works!

I am so afraid to take the beta block. I have been reading on all the side affects. I tried Anxioty Medecine and I had the Anxioty attack worst. So now I’m afraid of all Medecine. I only use the lorazepam when I really need to. I can’t wait for this to pass.

Eu também estou meio refratária a introduzir novos medicamentos mas as vezes - quando me tem sentido e eu confio no profissional - tento mudar e ver se melhora algo. Espero que tome a melhor decisão pra o seu caso! E que melhore logo é claro 🌷

I suffer from migraines so all antidepressants either give me migraines or, worse, exacerbate the anxiety/depression with suicidal ideation. I just have to ride it out. It used to be almost constant. I had COVID in 2020 to give a timeline and my symptoms really peaked last summer I think. BUT, the anxiety/depression/panic seems to have lessened significantly lately as have my other symptoms. There seem to be phases for every set of symptoms in my case.
