Lodging/housing option at Mayo for patients in radiation

Posted by merrijohnson @merrijohnson, Fri, Aug 23 10:36am

We are looking for lodging/housing for my brother & family while he undergoes 6 weeks of chemo/radiation at Mayo. We were told by his doctor that free lodging is available for patients receiving radiation, but we aren’t having any success in finding any. Any advice is appreciated.

@merrijohnson, Good morning. Regarding your visit to Mayo Clinic. Would that be in Rochester? If so then please take a look at Hope Lodge sponsored by The American Cancer Society. Your oncologist can recommend you and the nurse practitioner or someone else on your team will follow up for you.

It is a positive, nurturing environment. There is also a meditation on Wednesday evenings particularly for caregivers. It is in the Cancer Center on the main floor of Gonda. Let us know what else you may need. And May you have a day of comfort and ease. Chris

@merrijohnson,
Here is link to lodging at Mayo Rochester. You can access the Hope Lodge under Charitable Lodging heading. There is a shuttle that runs to and from the lodge on all weekdays. We used to pass it when we stayed at the Gift of Life transplant House. It is a beautiful facility.

Also, I highly recommend contacting @lmindela at Mayo Clinic Concierge Services – it is a free service that you can use prior and during your visit to help you find services, such as accommodations, transportation and things to do. You can contact them by email, phone, chat or in person during business hours:
