Living with immunotherapy - How are you doing?
After 12 weeks of treatment with Atezolizumab and Avastin the results of my first CT scan seem to indicate I am not doing any better or any worse. Side effects are minimal, and I gained some of the weight initially lost over the past 12 months. I feel a lot better than before I started with the treatment and understand it works with time. Interested in hearing from others undergoing treatment with the same immunotherapy medications. Cheers!

Hi Buddy.
I was just reading your message about immunotherapy
To start with I would like to know what sort of Cancer you have and how long you have had it. Because there are all sorts of Cancer a person can have & we are not all on the same treatment as each other.
To start with I am 80 Yrs old, and before I found out I had Cancer, I also have hart Problems and have a pacemaker in my chest, Then in July 2024 they found a mass on my Liver. I was sent off to have a PET Scan done and that's when I found out I had Cancer of the Pancreatic & Liver, The first thing they did was hit me with lots and lots of Chemo Treatment for 6 months which on it own left me felling so weak I found it hard to even walk 20 meters. But the Chemo did shrink the Mass & a lot of the smaller Cancer on my Liver had gone which was good news to hear But after the 6 months of Chemo they started me on Immunotherapy treatment & after each 3 months I got and have a PET Scan done. The first Pet Scan showed my Cancer was still Ok but the next Scan showed the Cancer had showed up again but in another part of my Liver . I have just finished my next lots of Immunotherapy & now I will go back and have another Pet scan to see what the Cancer is doing. By the was my Cancer is in the Vain of the Liver and can I Not have any OPP to cut it out, but as long as they can control it in the Liver & Pancreatic I'm Ok But if it gets away from there I will only have about 5 to 6 weeks of life left in me. But at my age I really don't care anymore. If you have only had Immunotherapy for 12 weeks your doing Ok but give it more time to see what happen next.
Take Care & good Luck
Thank you for your reply razorsharp. I have stage 4 liver cancer with a mass also. No chemo for me, just the immunotherapy. I battled with hepatitis for along time until I was cured of it 2017. Other than that I was very healthy until this diagnosis. Good luck to you also and keep up the battle.
Hi Azlusitano
Mate I don't know anything about where you live, but if
have the same Cancer as I have I don't know why they did not hit you with a heap of Chemo first before hand because
if your Cancer is like mine and it brakes away from your Liver you will only have a very short time left just like me & why are they only giving you Immunotherapy ???? & not Chemo, That treatment is for tearing Melanomas which stops any new cancers from starting up in your body. I would be asking your doctors what is going on & ask to see what your CT Scans show. Where I live a PET Scan shows more then a CT Scan does that why I only get Pet Scans all the time.
Please let me know how you get on Buddy
I was told by doctors at two different centers, chemo does work very well with liver cancer. My initial scan was a PET. Aparrently a CT scan is good enough to tell what is changing, or not. I'll keep you posted razorsharp. Keep on fighting.
OMG your Doctors told you that, How would they know that ?. have they ever had Liver & Pancreatic Cancer I fell so sorry for you Buddy
What specific type of liver cancer do you have?
Metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma
Hello Buddy
Yes you and I have the same Cancer but mine has not spread to any other parts of my body as yet, and that is because I had all that Chemo Treatment before hand, The only reason I can see why the Doctors did not give you Chemo is because your cancer has already started to spread to other parts of your body when they found it & by then it's to late. so they just hit you with lots of immunotherapy . I ask my GP and he agreed with me. Sorry my friend for giving you such bad news but I will be thinking of you from this day on. So go out there & do what ever you wanted to do before & have fun while you still can like I do.
I already knew my "bad news". The point of my post was simply wanting to hear from others undergoing treatment with the same immunotherapy medications that I am also using. Thank for nothing.
I can see by your reply back to me you are P off with me which is Ok with me. I was only talking to you about your question about Immunotherapy because you did not say ( anything about you having stage 4 Liver Cancer ) in your question Ok
Anyway >I will say no more and just wish you well > Buddy
