Sadly, there is no going back, to our pre AN lives, and our future as we had anticipated before this “ condition” changed forever, I wonder of if I will be able go teach my new grandson and engage in all I has hoped now in question. Will I be here when he’s 12, I don’t now know, all my symptoms though now masked by drugs will progress and shorten my life and rob me of moments of joy I has anticipated, don’t want to dwell in this, don’t have a choice, one pain at a time, one day at a time. Stay strong!
Hi Andyjustin, I am dealing with significant issues due to AN. I’d like to learn more about ur situation if possible, I’m not sure if ur still active on this thread, but if u are, pls let me know. Thx

Oh, I’m still active and I’m still paying attention and I certainly have no problem engaging and sharing thoughts and the life experience that I and we all live in any questions I love to answer any emotions positive or negative I’m all in
I think it’s the perfect description for autonomic neuropathy and I think doctors kinda get it but no one gets it unless they’re experiencing it for real
I use that analogy to simplify to people I engage with I am related to I am friends with the medical profession the butcher the Baker the candle steak maker. It’s about as simple explanation as possible, and something most people. Well they can’t feel they can certainly understand.
@duckski44 How are you doing with it? What has your doctor done? Any treatments or explanations of how you got it. I was given the dx, but have no idea how I got it.

I am not a diabetic, which is usually the case when you get AN
My symptoms are pretty ugly, nocturnal bowel incontinence, urinary issues, sweating and many more. The Dr’s aren’t able to do much, other than dealing with the symptoms. If you can add anything to my/ur situation I would be very interested. Thx

@duckski44 ,Will do, I’m going to dig as deep as I can. I have horrible insomnia and daytime grogginess too. So my symptoms are even over and above the Autonomic ones. There’s something helpful just knowing someone else has the same weird symptoms. Don’t wish it on anyone, but there is strength in numbers and information. Have a good evening. 😊
I haven’t posted in a little bit, so here’s where I’m at 2 1/2 years in with autonomic neuropathy maintaining at 1500 mg of gabapentin 100 mg of pregabalin and I’ve added another drug monofil which helps with the brain fog and general tiredness like everybody with this condition. I have my good days and my bad days my bad days start out with increased physical pain, which leads me into the psychological anguish that sets my brain spinningspinning, just to be clear about the medication I take. I started out at 900 mg of gabapentin 2 1/2 years later up to 1500 and only started taking the pregabalin two or three months ago. I imagine soon I will have to increase my dosage of gabapentin to 1800 1500 isn’t quite making it anymore but my medication is right. I almost feel asymptomatic, autonomic neuropathy, very simply affects every aspect of one’s life from nerve pain to brain fog to digestive issues to fractured sleep please please don’t believe in any of these half ass gears being hawked everywhere. As of this writing, I assure you, there is no cure please don’t buy into snake oil remedies and last of all as much as you wish for other people, family friends acquaintances to understand what it’s like to have autonomic neuropathy they can’t, and that makes this condition a very lonely place all the best trying to stay positive and I’m very glad today. I’m feeling very asymptomatic.

1 ReactionHave you ever taken alpha lipoic acid? I was advised by my doctor to take it. Do you know what caused yours? Sounds pretty awful. 😞
I really don’t know, I have a compromised immune system now, so I feel like I’m not able to fight these crazy diseases.
