LEEP biopsy could not provide a diagnosis: What next?
I am 61. last year in October 2024, i had an abnormal pap, showed HPV16, then underwent a LEEP procedure in which biopsy said normal
Underwent another pap this June 2025, came back positive for HPV 16. Gynecologist said I needed another LEEP PROCEDURE to go in deeper.
Had it done & upset as the biopsy report Cervix, LEEP BIOPSY:
The specimen is received in formalin with proper patient identification, labeled "LEEP biopsy". The specimen consists of a 1.2 x 0.7 x 0.5 cm unoriented portion of cervix as well as a 1.5 x 0.7 x 0.2 cm separate portion of tan-red and clotted hemorrhagic material. Sectioning through the hemorrhagic material shows a tan-red, smooth and homogenous cut surface with no grossly identifiable adhesed soft tissue. There is no grossly distinct endocervical margin on the portion of cervix. The stromal margin is inked black. The grossly identifiable ectocervix is tan-pink, smooth and glistening with no grossly identifiable masses or lesions. Sectioning through the specimen shows a tan-pink, smooth and homogenous cut surface with no grossly identifiable masses or lesions. The specimen is entirely submitted.
A1-separate hemorrhagic material, serially sectioned and entirely submitted
A2-portion of cervix, serially sectioned and entirely submitted
Final Diagnosis
A. Cervical LEEP biopsy:
- Nondiagnostic, clotted blood and scant fibrofatty and fibromuscular tissue without epithelium for evaluation
What the heck? Didn’t the gynaecologist see a blood clot?
Will I need another LEEP PROCEDURE?
This is ridiculous
Thank you
