Tomorrow, August 10, the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation (CCF) will be hosting a Facebook Live Event. As you will read, if you are not a part of FB you can still attend via YouTube. Here is the information:

Daniel Halperin, MD

We are excited to present the next Luncheon with the Experts via Facebook LIVE taking place on Thursday, August 10th from 12pm until 1pm Eastern Time.

Our special guest will be Daniel M. Halperin, MD.

Dr. Halperin, is a medical oncologist and clinical investigator primarily focused on the development of novel treatments for patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). He serves as chair of the NET Multidisciplinary Conference (Tumor Board) at MD Anderson, and represents the institution on the the Neuroendocrine and Adrenal Tumor guideline committee of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).

As a clinical investigator, he leads clinical trials of new drugs for patients with NETs at MD Anderson and works together with a team of laboratory and population scientists to understand more fully the molecular underpinnings and clinical manifestations of neuroendocrine tumors. He serves on the Board of Scientific Advisors of the NET Research Foundation and the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Healing NET Foundation, as well as chairing the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society Scientific and Research Committee in 2021.

The monthly Mayo NETs Support Group will be meeting this Thursday, August 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. EST, via Zoom. You need to register in advance in order to receive the Zoom link. Here is the link to register:

The meeting is hosted by a Mayo Clinic Social Worker. This meeting is a Round Table Discussion where you can meet other NETs patients and share experiences and ask questions of each other. For Questions or Concerns please call 904-953-7266.

Dr. Cezar A. Iliescu is an interventional cardiologist at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Having over 29 years of experience, his specialties include Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Iliescu is interested in vascular biology in cancer patients, endovascular treatment of patients with chronic thrombocytopenia, physiologic assessment of coronary stenosis, and treatment of radiation induced cardiovascular disease.

Tomorrow, Thursday, July 6, (from 5:30 to 7 p.m, EST) will be the monthly NETs Support Group meeting via Zoom. I'm excited to see that Dr. Thor Halfdanarson, a NET Specialist from Mayo Clinic, will be the speaker. You will learn a lot from this meeting!
