Last PSA Number Before Cancer Diagnosis?
Would anyone mind sharing their last PSA number before they were diagnosed with prostate cancer?
It seems like PSA of 4.0 is the typical point where many are referred to Urologist. I'm wondering are most people getting diagnosed within the 4 - 10 PSA range.

4.5. Stage 4 Gleason 9, lymph node involvement. Doctor was surprised. Agent Orange was. The culprit
Mine was 164. I am 70 years old had no idea what PSA was.
I didn't get that much of an explanation except it is unusual but it happens. I suspect part of it may be that I had a low baseline for BPH type of PSA and also cribriform type can emit less PSA. I sure don't like it as it has me nervous about surveillance.
1.4 stage 3a
I was diagnosed with
stage 4 Gleason 8(4 + 4) PC this February. My last four yearly PSA tests were all below 4.0, 2024- 2.9 one, 2023- 3.09, 2022- 2.49, 2021- 1.81. I was diagnosed after having persistent pains in my hips that I had attributed to arthritis, but my my PCP physician recommended I get a CT scan. And that's is when they found it. My urologist explained that approximately 10% of PC cases are not detected by PSA testing and unfortunately I was one of them.
I had a PMSA PETScan in late February that confirms it had spread to my pelvic area, some ribs and some lymph nodes. I am currently on the "Triplet", Lupron, Nubeqa and Docivyx chemo treatment . I'll have another PMSA PETScan when I finished chemo in late October. Hopefully it'll show I'm making progress.
Anyone else out there who was diagnosed with PC without having elevated PSA levels?
Mine was 15. First ever PSA at age 60. I had a doctor that kind of talked me out of getting one. But I always got the DRE every year. I guess GP's aren't as adept as urologists at finding cancer through a DRE. He retired and my new doctor insisted.
My brother had a PSA of 2 .He got a colonoscopy and they discovered a suspicous spot which turned out to be cancer!
