Laboratory Over The Counter (OTC) versus Prescription Hearing Aid Test

This January 2023 laboratory test of OTC vs prescription hearing aids is too technical for most readers including this engineer's understanding, but nevertheless demonstrates the superior higher audio frequency response of prescription hearing aids compared to OTC hearing aids that were tested (see Figures 1 and 2).
The upper black dashed curve represents a good target higher frequency audio amplification that the prescription aids can achieve, but the OTC aids cannot achieve (one important performance measure).
In my opinion it would be helpful if OTC aid manufacturers were to publish their potential audio frequency response performance as one measure of their value and effectiveness to expect for the cost compared to other hearing aid manufacturers.
