Kyphoplasty and Kyphosis T8 and T10

Posted by chrisdietrich @chrisdietrich, Nov 22 11:08am

I had Kyphoplasty done on T8 back in Sept and still having back pain the Doctor has told me that I have Kyphosis due to the T8 fracture and an earlier fracture on T10. I have been on Tymlos since Mid Sept and have no issues with the medication but the Back pain is limiting me to what I can do to start weight training and getting back to riding and walking.
Has anyone had to rehab from these types of injuries and suggestions and timelines for relief from pain!

I had kyphoplasty on T8, T9, and L1 and had 6 months of physical therapy. I had a lot of pain but pushed through it and never stopped walking. Now I use a SpinoMed brace which is designed to help with kyphosis. you wear it twice a day for one hour mostly when you’re walking or exercising and it’s been very helpful. The best part is Medicare paid for it.

@maymore thank you for your feedback! Are you pain free now, I have been doing PT for about 9 weeks and still have significant pain. Trying to walk every day and doing exersies but feel like its not getting any better.
Thank you!!

@chrisdietrich. To be honest, I felt it took forever for the pain to go away. I can’t say that I’m completely pain-free, but it’s way better. I bought this device called a NeuroMed, which is basically a wireless TENS unit, and I love it. It really helps when my muscles are tight, and it’s supposed to also aid in healing and reducing inflammation.
I bought it on Amazon.
It might help ease your pain!

I had a compression fracture at T8 but didn't realize it for three months. It was too late for kyphoplasty at the point. It's been almost two years and my pain has resolved except on occasion when I don't watch my posture carefully while lifting or moving. I did therapy and added back exercises which I have done faithfully every day for 20 months now. The pain is due to the compressed nerve root from the fracture. The pain does go away given time and a lot of work on strengthening your back muscles.
