Knee revision from partial to total 3 months post op

Posted by lbarth @lbarth, May 18 4:25pm

I have had a TKR and a total revision in the last 9 months. I understand what to expect but I started having this terrible grinding and cracking in the revision knee. I know they can click sometime, the other knee always does. But the revision knee sounds and hurts like it did before the replacement. I don’t see my Dr. til October if I come back now he will tell me it’s normal. I am exercising walking at least 2 miles a day and I had total rom within the first week with both knees. ROM was never an issue . My revision was on 2/9/24. There’s more but I’m just frustrated and tired.

Probably you need to insist that your doctor do more than tell you it's normal. Ask for an MRI or whatever equivalent they can give you with metal in your knee. I've been misled by doctor's post tkr and it cost me time and pain. Be proactive. That's my advice for what it's worth.

I am 18 months out....was still having lots of pain, soreness and stiffness. I went to a different Dr. and had a bone scan, I've also seen vascular (not that) and did a genicular nerve block which did nothing. It is all muscular and I feel I'm back at the beginning again doing many exercises each day but depending on which ones the really irritate the muscles. They aren't getting stronger very quickly for some reason. I'd seek a second opinion.
