I have a titanium rod that goes through the entire leg and through the knee. Do I need to have it removed to get a knee replacement and do need to have it removed and can it be removed? I cannot bend my leg,

I just had a repair of a broken tibia and fibula. The rod the placed was carried out by lifting up the kneecap completely, then insert the rod thru the tibia so it can bare weight right after surgery. This technique takes longer to heal at first, but it also de teases the chance of arthritis in the knee joint later . A knee replacement after rod insertion repair is still done usually, they just meet up the new tibia joint replacement with the old rod insertion. I wish they ha bionic technology, cuz it would be so nice to come out with a stronger, indestructible leg! Lol
